CONGRATULATIONS: STARS WATER CENTER INTERN WINS NATIONAL THIRD PRIZE AT MECA 2026

STARS Water Center extends its warmest congratulations to team AquaTech (Tra Vinh University) for outstandingly overcoming numerous formidable competitors nationwide to honorably secure the overall Third Prize at the Grand Finale of MECA – Mitsubishi Electric Cup Automation 2026 (held on July 10–11, 2026).

AquaTech is a competition team that brings together talented students majoring in Environmental Studies and Control Engineering & Automation from the School of Engineering and Technology, Tra Vinh University. Through their academic journey, and particularly their time interning and conducting practical research at the STARS Water Center, the members have synthesized their insights to bring a highly applicable project of great significance to the Mekong Delta: 'Water Treatment and Reuse System in Shrimp Farming towards a Circular Economy.

A convincing win powered by a practical "Digital" and "Green" integrated solution: Digital Integration (Smart Automation): By applying Mitsubishi Electric's advanced control solutions alongside a smart sensor system, the system allows for continuous, real-time monitoring of core water quality parameters including pH, temperature, DO, TDS, and salinity.

Green Solution (Circular & Sustainable): Designing a closed-loop filtration process utilizing advanced microbial technology to treat and recirculate pond water, thereby minimizing waste discharge and environmental pollution; while integrating solar energy to optimize power consumption and operational costs

This impressive achievement at the MECA 2026 competition is the well-deserved reward for the scientific passion and relentless efforts of both the mentors and students of team AquaTech. Furthermore, this accomplishment serves as a clear testament to the training quality and strategic commitment to developing 'Green - Digital - Sustainable' technological solutions closely tied to real-world production—a vision consistently pursued by both the STARS Water Center and the University.

From September 4 to 7, 2026, the Vietnam–Korea Knowledge Connectivity Forum (VKConnect Daegu 2026) was held in Daegu, South Korea, under the theme “Innovation in the Digital Era.” The Forum was initiated by the Consulate General of Vietnam in Busan and co-organized with Yeungnam University, aiming to strengthen connections between Vietnamese intellectuals and universities, businesses, and organizations in South Korea.
