STARS Water Center Participates in the Vietnam–Korea Knowledge Connectivity Forum – VKConnect Daegu 2026

From September 4 to 7, 2026, the Vietnam–Korea Knowledge Connectivity Forum (VKConnect Daegu 2026) was held in Daegu, South Korea, under the theme “Innovation in the Digital Era.” The Forum was initiated by the Consulate General of Vietnam in Busan and co-organized with Yeungnam University, aiming to strengthen connections between Vietnamese intellectuals and universities, businesses, and organizations in South Korea.

During the Forum, Dr. Tran Thi Ngoc Bich – Director of STARS Water Center, Tra Vinh University – served as the Chair of the scientific session “Environmental Engineering for Green Growth.”

In her role as Chair, Dr. Tran Thi Ngoc Bich moderated the scientific session, chaired the presentations and discussions, and facilitated the exchange of experiences and research findings among participants in the field of environmental engineering. The session provided an academic platform for researchers, experts, and delegates to exchange perspectives on approaches and technical solutions contributing to green growth and sustainable development.

Participation in VKConnect Daegu 2026 also provided an opportunity for STARS Water Center to strengthen connections with international academic and professional partners, while exploring potential opportunities for collaboration in research, training, and the application of environmental solutions.

Within the framework of her working visit to South Korea, Dr. Tran Thi Ngoc Bich had the opportunity to meet and exchange views with Ms. Doan Phuong Lan, Consul General of Vietnam in Busan.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed knowledge connectivity, academic cooperation, and opportunities to strengthen collaboration between Vietnamese educational and research institutions and their Korean counterparts. Areas related to the environment, sustainable development, and innovation were also highlighted as potential areas for connection and cooperation.

Dr. Tran Thi Ngoc Bich’s participation in VKConnect Daegu 2026 as Chair of the scientific session reflects STARS Water Center, Tra Vinh University’s active engagement in academic networking and international cooperation. The Forum also provided an opportunity for the Center to strengthen professional exchanges, expand its network of international partners, and explore potential collaboration in water resources, environmental engineering, and sustainable development.

On September 7, 2026, as part of its working visit to South Korea, the STARS Water Center of Tra Vinh University held a meeting and working session with Yeungnam University to discuss potential directions for collaboration in research, training, and the development of science and technology solutions in the fields of water, energy, environment, and agriculture, with the aim of establishing long-term collaborative programs between the two institutions.

On August 11, 2026, STARS Water Center – Tra Vinh University and HEINEKEN Vietnam held a strategic working session, marking an important transition from the completion of the practical clean water project in Quới Thiện Island Commune toward a broader vision of building a sustainable clean water ecosystem for island communities, remote and underserved areas across Vietnam during the 2027–2032 period.
